How To Order

PURCHASING

PLACING AN ORDER

  • Provide exact dimensions and/or design drawings for custom furniture orders, or approve drawings by company prior to production. Ensure scale and fit for application.

  • Provide a written P.O. (Purchase Order) with complete specifications when ordering furniture or fabric, or sign a P.O. provided by the showroom with complete specifications.

  • Select finish and provide all COM/COL (Customer's Own Material / Customer's Own Leather) to initiate production of furniture in a timely manner.

  • Review all information on supplier's Acknowledgement for furniture and fabric orders and make necessary changes to Acknowledgement in writing immediately upon receipt.

  • Any change to an order after 10 working days may result in a change order fee.

  • Approve all finish samples and fabric cuttings requested for approval.

  • Inform the ultimate client of accurate lead times and status of orders as production proceeds.

  • Assume all responsibility for selection, client interaction, and showroom communication.

PRICING AND PAYMENT

  • Purchase at Designer’s Net Price, noting applicable up charges for detail, if any.

  • Deposit 50% to initiate order and pay the balance due including all tax and shipping charges prior to delivery. If using a tax resale number to order tax exempt, designer assumes responsibility to collect tax from ultimate client or user and remit to State and must provide a copy of Resale Certificate to showroom.

  • Orders are not cancelable after 10 working days and product is not returnable.

  • Read back of showroom or supplier P.O. or Acknowledgement form to note any other terms of sale and warranties of supplier as to quality, etc.

REMOVING SALES TAX

In order to avoid sales tax charges, you must also complete and submit a Certificate of Resale form for the state(s) in which you do business and submit a copy of your Certificate of Registration. UK customers must submit a VAT registration in order to avoid sales tax charge.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

ENTIRE AGREEMENT

Acceptance of orders is based on the condition that buyer agrees to all of the terms and conditions contained herein. Acceptance of delivery by buyer will constitute buyer’s assent to these terms and conditions. These terms and conditions represent the complete agreement of the parties, and no terms or conditions in any way adding to, modifying, or otherwise changing the provisions stated herein shall be binding upon manufacturer unless made in writing and signed and approved by an officer of the manufacturer. No modification of any of these terms will be affected by manufacturer’s shipment of goods following receipt of buyer's purchase order, shipping request, or similar forms containing printed terms and conditions conflicting or inconsistent with the terms herein.

CANCELLATIONS

All goods are custom made to order specifications. Orders are not cancelable after ten (10) working days, nor returnable after the order has been put into production. Returns or cancellations require prior written approval from Francois Collective.

STORAGE FEES

Additional storage fees of 3% per month will be charged to store merchandise if not picked up within sixty (60) days from the date of invoice for final balance due.

PRICING

The net prices listed are subject to change without prior notice. All prices shown are at Designer Net, unless otherwise noted.

TAXES

All taxes and excises of any nature whatsoever now or hereafter levied by governmental authority, whether federal, state or local, either directly or indirectly, upon the sale of transportation of any goods covered hereby shall be paid and borne by Buyer.

TITLE / RISK OF LOSS

Delivery of goods to carrier shall be deemed delivery to Buyer, and thereupon title to such goods, and risk of loss or damage, shall be Buyer's. Any claim by Buyer against Manufacturer or carrier for shortage or damage occurring prior to such delivery must be made in writing within seventy-two (72) hours after receipt of shipment and accompanied by original transportation bill signed by the carrier noting that the carrier received the goods from Manufacturer in the conditions claimed. All deliveries are subject to the accompanying Freight Receiving Rules.

WARRANTY AND DISCLAIMER

Except as specified herein, Manufacturer warrants that any goods sold hereunder will be free from defects in workmanship and materials for one (1) year. This warranty does not apply to damage or breakage resulting from misuse, accidents, abuse, neglect, mishandling or wear resulting from normal use. Defective products will be replaced within the normal production time period required to reorder and manufacture the same product.

Indoor Furniture

Many wood and metal finishes are applied by hand and may vary in color, tone and character. While Manufacturer will make every effort to match a finish, no guarantee can be made of an exact match. Manufacturer does not guarantee finishes against fading and oxidizing. Variations in color and veining are inherent in stone and wood and considered to be part of the natural beauty. Furniture and lighting is handmade, and therefore is subject to slight variations.

Outdoor Furniture

Direct and prolonged exposure to extreme environmental elements can cause damage to Outdoor Furniture. UV light will cause natural stone tabletops to fade over time. This is a natural occurrence and is not indicative of a failure in workmanship. Francois Collective strongly recommends storing or properly covering Outdoor Furniture when not in use.

Textiles

Manufacturer does not guarantee fabrics, dyed or natural, from fading.

DIMENSIONS

Dimensions on upholstery and caseloads are taken to the widest, deepest, or tallest points. Some industry standards to note:

  • Arm Height: Measurement from the floor to the center point of the arm.

  • Overall Height: The tallest measurement from the floor to the top of the pieces. Note that on upholstery, this can mean to the top of the back cushion, not the top of the frame.

  • Overall Width: The widest measurement from side to side. Note that sometimes a curved leg can go wider than the side of a piece, impacting the overall width of the piece.

  • Seat Height: Measurement from the floor to the tallest point on the crown of the cushion. Typically the crown will be 1.5”-2.5” higher.

DIMENSION VARIATION

Because of variation in fabric thickness and “bench made” techniques used to manufacture Francois Collective products, there may be some variations from the dimensions listed. For example - widths, depths, overall heights, and arm heights can vary 1-2 inches.

FORCE MAJEURE

All quoted completion and delivery dates are estimates only. Manufacturer shall not be liable for delays in completion or shipment or default in delivery for any reason of force majeure or for any cause beyond Manufacturer's reasonable control including, but not limited to, (a) government action, war, riots, civil commotion, embargoes or martial laws, (b) Manufacturer's inability to obtain necessary materials from its usual sources of supply, (c) shortage of labor, raw material, production or transportation facilities or other delays in transit, (d) labor difficulty involving employees of Manufacturer or others, (e) fire, flood or other casualty, or (f) other contingencies of manufacture or shipment. In the event of any delay in Manufacturer's performance due in whole or in part to any cause beyond Manufacturer's reasonable control, Manufacturer shall have such additional time for performance as may be reasonably necessary under the circumstances. Acceptance by Buyer of any goods shall constitute a waiver by Buyer of any claim for damages on account of any delay in delivery of such goods.

RETURN OF UNUSED COM

FABRIC BACKING REQUIREMENTS

Fabrics that require backing include:

  • All chenille fabric with any pile on the reverse side requires knit backing to prevent stretching and to stop the cushion fabric from rolling on the cushion.

  • Taffetas and silk fabrics require knit backing to prevent upholstery tacks and sewing needles from causing runs in the fabric. The backing process can cause stripes to become askew.

  • All loosely woven fabrics require backing to prevent padding from working through the fabric.

  • Fabrics with high level of stretch

  • Sheer fabrics (may not be suitable even with backing)

  • Linen

  • If you are unsure if your fabric will require backing, please send a memo to the Francois Collective customer experience team and we will be happy to offer guidance.

Note: Fabric backing process results in loss of 1 yard, on average, of usable fabric.

PRODUCT CARE

WOOD

Wood, lacquer, and linen pieces have been stained and/or polished to bring depth and beauty to each finish. Although most are protected with either a clear coat or wax, they are still susceptible to wear. Care for your wood and lacquer pieces by dusting regularly with a soft cloth.

Maintain wood and lacquer by not placing near heaters and air conditioning units to prevent over-drying or exposure to excessive moisture. Avoid extreme humidity changes in your home, as extremely dry air can cause wood to crack and lacquer to lift. Do not place/leave hot or moist objects directly on the wood. Rubber or plastic left on the wood finish can also damage the finish.

Clean by using a dry or slightly damp soft cloth. Follow by polishing with a dry soft cloth. Do not use commercial, heavy-duty polishes or waxes, as they can yellow light finishes. We recommend that stained or soiled wood or lacquer pieces be professionally cleaned or refinished. Do not slide plates, glasses or other items with rough bottoms across top of piece to prevent the finish from scratching. Do not allow liquids to accumulate on top of piece.

STONE

Stone can be classified into two categories: siliceous stones such as granite and slate are more durable and relatively easy to clean, while calcareous stones, such as marble, limestone and onyx, are more porous and sensitive to acidic cleaning products.

As stone is a natural material, markings and color will vary. Stone tops are sealed or polished to be stain resistant. Many common foods and drinks contain acids that will etch or dull the surface of many stones. Use placemats or felt spots under china, ceramics, silver, or any other objects that may scratch the surface.

Clean stone surfaces with a soft cloth and a few drops of stone soap or a light detergent combined with warm water. Too much cleaner or soap may leave a film or cause streaks. Rinse the surface thoroughly after cleaning and dry with a soft cloth. For spills, blot with a soft cloth immediately to prevent the stain from being absorbed by the stone. Flush with water and mild soap and rinse well. Dry the area with a soft cloth.

We recommend that stained or soiled stone be professionally cleaned by a stone cleaner or a refinisher.

METAL

Powder coated metal is a very durable material that should be routinely cared for like the paint on a fine automobile. Use only a soft cotton or microfiber cloth with a mild detergent (ph neutral) to clean. Rinse thoroughly. It is important to never use abrasives or solvent based cleaners. The addition of a good quality automobile wax will provide a layer of protection against salt and minimize water spotting. Be sure to clean the surface thoroughly prior to application (per the manufacturer’s instructions).

GLASS

Glass and crystal can be cleaned by wiping with a soft damp cloth or glass cleaner with no additives. Apply glass cleaner to a soft cloth rather than directly on to the fixture to avoid overspray that may damage other finishes.
